ARLINGTON, Va. – The National Association of State Credit Union Supervisors (NASCUS) has named two credit union leaders to one of its governing bodies.
Amy Nelson, CEO of Oregon-based Point West Credit Union, and Amy Sink, CEO of Indiana-based Interra Credit Union, have joined NASCUS’s Credit Union Advisory Council (CUAC) following appointments by CUAC Chairman Mike Williams of Colorado Credit Union.
“The knowledge and strategic leadership they bring to the table will only strengthen NASCUS’ work to help shape the future of the state credit union system,” said NASCUS CEO Lucy Ito. “As a thought-leader for our industry, NASCUS is always looking to address tomorrow’s issues today. Their insights will help ensure we prioritize issues focused on strengthening the state system.”
The $110 million Point West Credit Union in Portland, Ore., is a CDFI that has focused on bringing access and affordable capital to microenterprise businesses, immigrants, minority groups, and unbanked consumers. NASCUS noted Nelson’s years of service extend beyond Point West, and that she has engaged in credit union regulatory and political advocacy work via the Northwest Credit Union Association (NWCUA) and the NASCUS Regulatory Advocacy Committee.
Nelson is also a former member of the CFPB’s Credit Union Advisory Council; is a Board Member for Oregon-based 501c3s Metropolitan Family Service and Neighborhood Partnerships, and a co-founder of the micro-business advocacy coalition Oregon Small Business United.
Long History of Engagement
Sink has served as CEO of Interra Credit Union in Goshen, Ind. since November 2013. The $1.2-billion Interra serves 18 counties in Northern Indiana and has more than 85,000 members.
NASCUS noted Sink has a long history of engagement in the credit union industry, and actively participates in state, local, and national lobbying. She has served on the CUNA State Chartered subcommittee and the Indiana Governmental Affairs committee.
Sink is also currently active as a board member for Alloya Corporate FCU, where she served as chairperson from 2011-2015; and on the boards of Members Development Corporation, Indiana Credit Union League, and PSCU.
NASCUS said as members of the Advisory Council, Nelson and Sink join fellow credit union CEOs and executives in advising the NASCUS regulator board on matters related to NASCUS’ mission of “forging a vibrant dual charter system that promotes a relevant, growth-oriented, and healthy state charter option.”
