LAS VEGAS– VentureTech, a fintech showcase for credit unions, has wrapped up its three-day event here during which various fintechs made their pitches for credit union support and backing, with one company being voted Best in Show.
VentureTech, which is sponsored by Curql Collective and CUNA Strategic Services, also offered networking and demonstrations by both startups and growing companies offering fintech solutions to credit unions.
According to organizers, a selection committee of industry experts hand-picked from 50 applicants 16 companies to make their pitches.
“As a highlight of VentureTech, these up-and-coming fintech companies presented emerging technologies that promised to help credit unions lend more efficiently, deepen member relationships, solve problems, expand services and more,” organizers said.
Launch Party
A Launch Party event showcased an additional 10 fintech launching from accelerators.
During the event, audience members voted on Best in Show award winners, with Goalsetter, a financial management and education app that has previously been featured on Shark Tank and the Today Show, winning the event’s Best Fintech Pitch award, sponsored by NACUSO.
Arcanum, which specializes in authentication technology and passcode systems, won the Best Accelerator Pitch award, sponsored by LenderClose and Eltropy. Both Goalsetter and Arcanum received a monetary prize of $2,500 each.
A third fintech, Ranqx, which harnesses the power of data to speed commercial lending processes and reduce cost, was named Best Fintech Pitch runner up.
Growth in Attendees
“We have heard from many attendees that VentureTech is their favorite credit union event,” said Nick Evens, CEO of Curql Collective. “The numbers certainly back this up, as we went from 225 attendees last year to 350 this year, which is solid growth for us.”
Added Jenny Jackson, sales distribution channel and alliance manager for CSS, “Aside from this being our biggest event to date, the quality of fintech solutions and pitches were phenomenal, and the Launch Party with Ashish Garg from Eltropy as MC was energetic and fun. We’re not the only ones looking forward to next year.”
