WATERTOWN, N.Y.–Northern Credit Union here said it will close its offices on April 8 due to the solar eclipse.
The decision isn’t based on superstitions, but instead on the crowds of people expected in the area to view what will be a total eclipse in Watertown.
The credit union is one of a number of area businesses that have said they will also be closing.
“For the safety of our member-owners and internal-owners, we are closing all Relationship Centers on Monday, April 8,” the credit union said in an email to members, noting its other channels will be functioning.
The eclipse will be at least partial in all 48 contiguous states, but it will be near total across portions of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, Tennessee, Michigan and Maine.
