‘Transformation Steering Group’ Formed as Proposed NAFCU, CUNA Merger Moves Forward

WASHINGTON—A “Transformation Steering Group” has been formed by CUNA and NAFCU as the two groups continue to seek to merge.

According to a letter from CUNA President and CEO Jim Nussle, who will lead new group to be called “America’s Credit Unions” should the merger get the OK from member CUs, the Transformation Steering Group is being led by NAFCU COO Anthony Demangone and CUNA COO Jill Tomalin as it seeks to merge the “best of both organizations.”

Other points made in the letter include:

  • Credit unions’ input matters and is “invaluable” in shaping a united national association, the letter states. The organizations said credit unions can share thoughts at cuna.org/merger
  • Members’ votes count. Voting is set to begin later this month and will be open for 60 days. Voting concludes Nov. 1 and as CUToday.info reported here, the results are to be announced on Nov. 2.
