WASHINGTON–Today is the deadline for credit unions that are planning to submit their responses to NCUA's voluntary Credit Union Diversity Self-Assessment for 2019.
The agency, including its board members, have repeatedly urged more credit unions to participate in the self-assessment as NCUA builds a database of credit unions' activities related to diversity and inclusion.
While participation is an individual credit union’s decision, NAFCU’s Carrie Hunt said the trade group has heard from a “significant” number of credit unions that are participating in the diversity self-assessment.
“Diversity can be incredibly impactful and it’s important to have a strong, diversified workforce,” said Hunt, adding NAFCU would oppose any effort to make the self-assessment mandatory.
As CUToday.info reported extensively, in late 2019 NCUA hosted its first-ever Diversity, Inclusion & Equity Summit during which numerous interesting observations and experiences were shared. For more info, search “NCUA DEI Summit Coverage” on CUToday.info.
