Tobacco Road Merger, As Two N.C. CUs To Combine

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.—Members of Hanover FCU have agreed to merge into Piedmont Advantage Credit Union.

The $290-million Piedmont Advantage will absorb HFCU’s 1,700 members and $7 million in assets and expand into its Wilmington, N.C. market. Judy Tharp, president and CEO of Piedmont Advantage Credit Union, will lead the combined CU, while Hanover Federal CEO James Hurley will retire, effective Nov. 30, 2014. Regulators have already signed off on the combination.
