To Help Following Mass Murder, Clearview Donates $10K To Jewish Federation Fund

PITTSBURGH–In the wake of the mass murder inside a synagogue here, Clearview Federal Credit Union has made a $10,000 donation to the Jewish Federation of Pittsburgh’s “Our Victims of Terror” fund through the United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania.

Eleven people were killed in the shooting.

The donation will be part of the United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania’s contribution match of up to $100,000 to support psychological services, support for families, general services, reconstruction, additional security throughout the community, medical bills for all those involved, as well as counseling and other services that may prove necessary in the future.

“Our condolences go out to the victims, families and friends of those affected by the tragedy that occurred this past weekend,” said Clearview FCU CEO Ron Celaschi. “Pittsburgh is a close-knit community and seeing how the community has been able to come together during this time of grief shows how strong this city is. I am proud to present the gift of $10,000 from the board of directors and employees of Clearview.”

Employees Also Raising Funds

In an effort to continue raising funds for the victims and families, Clearview said its employees will have the option to wear their favorite Pittsburgh team jersey to work for a donation of $11 in honor of the 11 lives that were lost. All money raised from employees wearing their Pittsburgh team jerseys will also go to United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania’s collection for the Jewish Federation of Pittsburgh’s Our Victims of Terror fund.

Robert Bowers, 46, has been indicted on 44 charges related to the shooting.
