PENSACOLA, Fla.– Pen Air FCU is reporting it has now selected the three teams that will participate in its 2022 NOW Program as they seek to improve their finances and achieve their dreams.
Members will be able to follow the progress of three teams––John and Veronica, Crystal, and Jack—as they navigate the seven-month journey, which is designed to guide contestants to the financial freedom they’ve been dreaming of while they compete for the chance to win $5,000, Pen Air said.
This is the third year of the NOW program, according to Casey Brueske, community education development specialist for Pen Air FCU.
NOW Teams are paired with a certified Pen Air Financial Counselor who will work directly with them to create an individualized financial plan to help them pay off their debt and set them up for a financially secure future.
“Our goal is to guide these teams to be more financially fit and enhance their lives and the lives of others in the process,” said Brueske.
According to the credit union, NOW Teams will document their journey via social media, video and blogs each month to inspire the community. Points will be awarded to each family for percent increase in savings, percent decrease in debt, submitting blog and video content, attending Pen Air financial workshops, volunteering in the community, and meeting with their NOW Advisor.
At the completion of seven months, the NOW Team that earns the most points during the contest will be awarded $5,000.
Pen Air reported the 2021 winners, Wesley and Tammy went from feeling like they would never be able to save for retirement to building a plan for their families’ future.
“Our main goal was to focus on savings, especially on retirement,” they said. “We had to look at our spending habits and make a lot of changes. In the end, we have created a great plan that will put us on track for success.”
On average, the 2021 NOW Teams increased their savings by $14,000 and decreased their debt by $8,000. The credit union reported.
