TAMPA, Fla.–Three members of GTE Financial Credit Union here will have a chance to win up to $200,000 today.
The potentially big prize is part of a promotion staged by GTE Financial that offered an opportunity for two members who either referred a friend or opened a new Go Premium Checking Account to enter for an entertaining chance to win up the prize. GTE Financial also added a third way to win as a creative band submission via YouTube.
The contestants will gather today at Rock Brothers Brewing in the Ybor section of Tampa. Each contestant will receive a series of envelopes with varying amounts: $500, $1,000, $5,000 and $200,000. The first five matching envelopes will be the amount the participant will take home. The minimum that anyone will walk away with will be at least $500, the credit union said.
The three finalists are:
- Tatiana, who moved to Tampa five years ago from Columbia and recently bought a jeep through GTE Financial. “If I win $200,000, I would by a house and start my own business as a fashion designer,” said Tatiana.
- Ashley, who works in the insurance field and who is the mother of a little boy. “When I win the money, I will pay off loans and purchase a farm house for us to live in and have all sorts of animals,” she said.
- Sarah Morey, who entered to win through a YouTube submission. She will be attending Belmont University once she graduates. If she wins the $200,000, Morey said she is planning to pay her tuition for school.
The Friday event will have music by the band, Have Gun Will Travel, which created GTE's very own theme song, in conjunction with updates from the credit union's CEO, Brian Best. There will also be a performance by Morey.
