NEW YORK—The My Credit Union Mentor program has been introduced by three CU groups with a goal of providing new resources to small, faith-based and minority-centric credit unions.
Backing the new program are the National Federation of Community Development Credit Unions, the African-American Credit Union Coalition, and the Network of Latino Credit Unions and Professionals.
Noting that in many struggling communities the only financial services available are from community development CUs, and the goal of the new program is to provide mentors from throughout credit unions to lend their expertise so the CUs remain a “vibrant resource in their communities,” the organizations said in a released statement.
Mentoring will be available in areas that include strategic planning, lending, operations, collections, marketing, secondary capital, board governance, collections and compliance.
