Three Credit Unions Name New CEOs

LOS ANGELES–New CEOs have been named by credit unions in California, Washington and Alaska.

Barry Roach

The $600-million Water & Power Community Credit Union has named a new CEO to succeed long-time leader Carl Stewart. The credit union has selected Barry Roach to lead the organization. Roach joins Water & Power CCU after four years as chief executive of the $439-million SafeAmerica Credit Union.

“We are thankful to have had Carl Stewart’s leadership to guide Water & Power Community Credit Union for so many years. As we face the future, we are confident Barry Roach will deliver the best financial solutions with superior service to our membership” said Board Chair Belinda Walker.

While at SafeAmerica Credit Union, Roach helped the organization achieve a significant net income turnaround and improvement in financial strength while maintaining a commitment to service excellence, Water & Power said.

Marilyn Brink

Roach began his career in Canada where he obtained his Master of Business Administration in Financial Services, and then spent 20 years with Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce in progressive positions focused on implementing national sales and marketing programs before he was recruited to the $1.3-billion Meriwest Credit Union in San Jose, Calif., where he headed the Retail Delivery Group.

In Bellingham, Wash., Marilyn Brink has been named president and CEO of the $220-million North Coast Credit Union here.

Brink steps in for former president and CEO Terry Belcoe, who died earlier this year. Brink has served as the credit union’s executive vice president and chief operations officer for the past fourteen years

Established in 1939, the credit union has more than 17,000 members.
