WASHINGTON–Both the House and the Senate are in session this week, with a number of hearings and other meetings of interest to credit unions, including a Thursday hearing on the Hill at which NCUA Chairman Rodney Hood will be among those testifying.
On tap this week are:
Tuesday
- Senate Committee on Finance hearing on Challenges in the Retirement System. The hearing begins at 10:15 a.m.
Wednesday
- Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship hearing on the reauthorization of the Small Business Administration's (SBA) innovation programs. The hearing is to begin at 2:30 p.m. ET
- Senate Committee on Banking, Housing & Urban Affairs hearing on Oversight of Financial Regulators, that is to include, in addition to NCUA’s Hood, Comptroller of the Currency Joseph M. Otting, FDIC Chairman Jelena McWilliams, and Vice Chair for Supervision, Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System Randal Quarles.
- Senate Appropriations subcommittee hearing on Treasury Department's proposed budget estimates for fiscal year 2020.
- House Financial Services Committee hearing on “Promoting Economic Growth: A Review of Proposals to Strengthen the Rights and Protections of Workers” The hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m.
Thursday
- The House Financial Services Committee will hear from the same panel of financial regulators that testified before the Senate on Wednesday. U.S. House Committee on the Judiciary hearing on “Justice Denied: Forced Arbitration and the Erosion of Our Legal System.” The hearing will begin at 10 a.m.
- House Committee on Oversight and Reform hearing on “CFPB’s Role in Empowering Payday Lenders: Examining the Proposed Repeal of the Payday Lending Rule.” The hearing will begin at 2 p.m.
