This Week’s DC Agenda: Reg Relief (Again), Hearings And Webcasts

Ryan Donovan

WASHINGTON–With Congress back in session this week, credit unions are paying attention to a number of pieces of legislation, as well as several hearings in both the House and Senate.

A key focus remains onS 2155, the reg relief bill that has passed both the House and Senate and is now back before the House as members seek ways to reconcile the two bills in a way that won’t jeopardize passage. Members of both the House and Senate have expressed opposition to any significant changes being made, which has stalled Congress.

Meanwhile, CUNA’s chief advocacy officer, Ryan Donovan, said it is also watching progress on HR 4293, the Stress Test Improvement Act of 2017; HR 4061, the Financial Stability Oversight Council Improvement Act of 2017; and the Volcker Rule Regulatory Harmonization Act.

Discussion in the House will also turn to House Joint Resolution 2, which proposed a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution of the United States.
