ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.–PSCU is encouraging credit unions to get involved in a twist on the “Bank Transfer Day” movement by “transferring something back into their local communities.”
Bank Transfer Day, which took place on Nov. 5, 2011 as the culmination of one Kristen Christian’s angry Facebook post regarding dissatisfaction with commercial banks, primarily centers around consumers moving their funds out of banks and entering into relationships with credit unions. In its newest iteration, however, PSCU is reporting that more than 300 credit unions are creating a “new tradition geared towards memorializing what happened on Bank Transfer Day by ‘transferring’ something back into their local communities.”
PSCU said it is encouraging credit unions across the country to get involved in a grassroots movement.
“Whether it’s kicking off a food drive, calling for volunteers or taking up a collection, credit unions everywhere can use this day to remind members what happened on that first Bank Transfer Day, and how important it is to give back,” said PSCU. “As part of its highly social, grassroots Make Your Money Matter campaign, PSCU is providing complimentary social media content and assets to promote the campaign.
