CHEHALIS, Wash. – Substantial physical damage was done to a credit union branch here after thieves used a forklift to steal an ATM.
According to police, the thieves used the forklift to load an ATM located at a branch of Washington State Employees CU into a box truck and then drove away with it.
Police believe the forklift was stolen from a nearby construction site, KIRO reported.
WSECU reassured members and consumers the ATM does not store credit or debit card numbers and all transactions from over the weekend should have posted to members’ accounts normally.
No arrests have been made and the stolen ATM has yet to be located.
