ABERDEEN, S.D.–Area Federal Credit Union has named a new president and CEO.
The $190-million AFCU has selected Stephen (Steve) Streier to lead the organization.
According to the Dakotas Credit Union Association, Streier has worked in the financial industry for his entire career, starting as a teller in college and advancing to loan processor, collector, loan officer, member service representative, assistant manager, and vice president.
He also has experience in accounting, payroll, human resources, as well as policy and procedures and back-office work, the association said.
Over the past year, he started Streier Consulting in Eden, S.D., which offers consulting services for small and medium sized credit unions. Prior to that, he was VP of lending at Area FCU for more than 20 years, the association added.
Streier holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Northern State University.
“As a 35-year resident of Aberdeen with 25 plus years of credit union experience, he is well positioned to lead the organization as they continue to improve their members’ lives,” the Dakotas Association said.
