WASHINGTON–It remains familiar names representing credit unions on Capitol Hill in the wake of the merger of NAFCU and CUNA.
Some changes may occur after March 1, when Carrie Hunt, the president of the Virginia Credit Union League, joins the new trade group America’s Credit Unions as chief advocacy officer.
For now, however, Greg Mesack, who was formerly with NAFCU, told CUToday.info that many of the people representing the trade group are CU veterans well-known to most, including Brad Thaler, Alex Monterubio, Ann Petros, Jason Stverak, Abby Gunderson-Schwartz and others.
“It’s a lot of the same faces, so there's no drop off, there's continuity,” said Mesack. “A lot of those great, great minds are still there working hard. We’ll figure out how to make it all work and then once Carrie starts she'll kind of bring us all together under with her vision…There has been no drop off. We are we were very fortunate we kept a lot of great talent going here.”
‘Among the Best’
Added Stverak, “I think throughout this merger we were blessed knowing that the advocacy teams at legacy CUNA and legacy NAFCU were among the best in Washington and have a plethora of talent. We will continue to have uninterrupted, excellent advocacy.”
