The New Boss Looks Like The Old Boss: New FHA Commissioner Is Confirmed

Brian Montgomery

WASHINGTON—The Senate has confirmed the nomination of Brian Montgomery to lead the Federal Housing Administration (FHA); this will be his second time as FHA commissioner.

Montgomery previously held the job under President George W. Bush and stayed on for six months when President Barack Obama took office.

NAFCU sent a letter to Montgomery congratulating him on his new role. The trade group said it has long recognized and supported FHA's important role in the housing finance market. NAFCU said it is also urging Congress, as discussions of housing finance reform are underway, to preserve credit unions' equal access to the secondary mortgage market and for fair pricing based on loan quality rather than volume.
