MOUNTAIN VIEW Calif.—People can now send money to each other via Gmail. The Gmail app for iOS now allows users to send or request money from other people when drafting an email.
The process is simple. Gmail users can send and request money from one of their contacts by tapping the same button they would hit to send an attachment and scrolling down the list. For ease of use, the payment feature is treated as an attachment, according to TechCrunch.
Google stated that the update works for “anyone with an email address.” Money is transferred via Google Pay. Other services like PayPal or Apple Pay are not supported at the moment, Google said.
