ST. CLOUD, Minn.– St. Cloud Financial Credit Union has announced the arrival of an enormous visitor–a giant pumpkin weighing 1,437 pounds. The pumpkin was grown by one of its employees.
SCFCU said the giant pumpkin is part of the its commitment to “experience the uncommon in banking while bringing the community together.”
In honor of the giant pumpkin’s arrival, St. Cloud Financial is inviting the community to participate in two contests:
- A giant pumpkin naming contest in which the person who submits the winning name will receive $250
- A giant pumpkin photo contest in which the person submitting the winning photo will also get $250
Employee Grows Pumpkin
In 2018 St. Cloud Financial Credit Union noted it hired a new Solutions Manager, Chris Qualley. After joining the credit union, SCFCU said it “quickly became common knowledge that Mr. Qualley holds the record for the heaviest pumpkin grown in Minnesota at 1,918.5 pounds.”
The credit union asked Qualley if he would grow a pumpkin for its members, and the answer was “an immediate ‘yes’.”
“We are very proud of our giant pumpkin and excited to share her with the rest of the community. Our credit union is committed to creating an uncommon experience, and we hope these festivities will do just that,” said Sarah Mason, EVP/chief administrative officer for St. Cloud Financial Credit Union.

Other CU Pumpkin Expertise
St. Cloud Financial CU isn’t alone among credit unions with its pumpkin-related expertise. As CUToday.info reported here, VP-Marketing Zach Winegar of America First Credit Union in Utah meticulously carved the largest pumpkin ever grown in the state, weighing in at 1,974 pounds.
