The Credit Union Chili Challenge Is Back—And It’s Bigger

SAN DIEGO—Xpress Data said it will host its fifth annual XDI Credit Union Chili Challenge on Saturday, Aug. 5 at the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club racetrack.

The company announced that at least 20 teams will be competing for $14,000 in prize money, which will be donated to the charities of the winners’ choice. This breaks last year’s record of 19 teams, the company said.

Credit unions can still sign up to compete in the 2017 XDI Credit Union Chili Challenge by visiting http://www.xdi.com/news/ChiliChallenge.

“The CU Chili Challenge grows larger every year, thanks to the continued popularity of food trends and cooking competition shows,” the company said. “Credit unions that can’t make the trip to California to compete can encourage teambuilding and employee engagement at home by hosting their own chili cook-off.”

For the first time, XDI said it will provide credit unions with a free chili cook-off kit that includes step-by-step instructions and electronic versions of all the documents a credit union needs to make the event a success. The chili cook-off kit can be downloaded by visiting the XDI website at http://www.xdi.com/news/ChiliCookoffKit.

“We’re excited that this great event keeps growing,” said XDI President Mike Cooper. “When you combine great food, great fun and great people, you can’t help but have a great time. I can’t think of a better way to raise money for charity.”
