TULSA, Okla.– A popular supporter of the Kansas City Chiefs who well-known as “Chiefsaholic” and recognizable for never missing a home game is now known for something else—failing to appear at a hearing after being arrested for allegedly robbing a credit union.
As CUToday.info reported here, Xavier Babudar, who dresses as a wolf and who frequently appeared on TV, was arrested in January and charged with an armed robbery of a branch of Tulsa Teachers Credit Union in Bixby, Okla.
Babudar, who has also claimed to have placed large bets on games, failed to appear at a hearing. His court-ordered GPS monitor was found in a wooded area near an Academy Sports + Outdoors store in southern Tulsa with the strap cut off, according to police.
Tamper Alert Goes Off
Michael Lloyd, the bail bondsman who paid Babudar’s $80,000 bond to secure his release from jail last month, told the New York Times the unit’s tamper alert went off around 8:30 p.m. Saturday. Lloyd went to Babudar’s hotel — though Babudar lives in the Kansas City, Mo., area, he was required to remain in Tulsa County, Okla., as a condition of his release — but his room was empty, the Times reported.
Babudar, 28, often traveled to Chiefs’ away games and he cultivated an image as a high roller by frequently posting slips from bets worth thousands of dollars on social media, where he had tens of thousands of followers, the Times noted.
Stories Prove to be Untrue
Babudar had clamed he made his money by managing multiple warehouses in the Midwest. But since his arrest a different story has emerged, showing he has been frequently jobless, did not attend the colleges he claimed to have attended, he was living in a car with his mother and brother, and he has a long arrest record.
According to police, at the time of his arrest Babudar was allegedly found with a weapon and lots of cash. Babudar also allegedly stuck a “CO2 pistol” in a teller’s face during the robbery.
The Times also noted that some Kansas City fans speculated that he robbed the credit union while driving to a Chiefs away game against Houston.
