The Cashless Society Continues To Get Closer

MIAMI—In a move that suggests the cashless society continues to inch closer, one airline has stopped accepting cash at several airports across the nation.

Most recently, American Airlines moved to a cashless model at Miami International Airport, reported the Miami Herald.

“That means any transactions for additional fees, such as checked bags or overweight bags, will have to be made with credit or debit cards,” the Herald stated.

The airline already has transitioned to cashless airport environments in more than 50 locations, including in New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport and LaGuardia Airport, Los Angeles International Airport and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, American Airlines spokeswoman Alexis Aran Coello told the Herald.
