Texans CU Reviewing Sites for New Branch, Which Will be its First in 20 Years

RICHARDSON, Texas–Texans Credit Union is now looking for a new location for what would be its first branch in 20 years.

The $2.27-billion Texans CU is seeking to build a new branch north of Dallas following the growth of two of its sponsor companies, Texas Instruments and Raytheon Technologies Corp., according to the Dallas Business Journal. Texas Instruments is building a $2.2-billion manufacturing campus in Sherman, Texas.

CEO David Frazier told Dallas Business Journal the credit union  has looked at three properties in north McKinney and Prosper, Texas, with a goal of opening a branch in 2025. While TCU has a branch in McKinney, Frazier told the publication the credit union wants to open another location further north, tapping further into growth on the periphery of the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex.

Five-Year Agreement With School District

According to the Dallas Business Journal, the new branch would build off a five-year agreement Texans signed in 2023 to become the exclusive financial institution for McKinney Independent School District Athletics through 2028, Frazier said.

"We still believe the branch is extremely important to grow membership deposits and loans," Frazier told the Dallas Business Journal. "And so [the new one] should be the first of many. We're hoping to add an additional branch every one to three years after 2025. We will continue to expand the branch network throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth market."

CU Intro’s New Brand

Texans began in 1953 as a financial institution to serve Texas Instruments employees. The credit union now has 11 branches, the latest of which was added in 2006 through a merger, and more than 124,000 members.
