The induction took place during the TCUL Annual Convention and Expo here.

Jointly sponsored by the TCUL and Volcorp, induction into the Tennessee Credit Union Hall of Fame is awarded annually to recognize the commitment, leadership, and dedication that deserving individuals from the state have made to the credit union movement.

The first 2018 inductee into the Tennessee Credit Union Hall of Fame was Grady Hicks, director for Southern Credit Union in Chattanooga. Hicks has served Southern Credit Union for over 40 years, including as chair of the Supervisory Committee as well as numerous other ad hoc board committees.  Hicks also attends various credit union meetings and conferences – Chapter Meetings, Tennessee Credit Union League Convention, Elected Leaders Conference and various state, national and regional meetings.

The second 2018 inductee into the Tennessee Credit Union Hall of Fame is Marvin McBee, CEO for Heritage South Community Credit Union in Shelbyville, Tenn. According to the league and Volcorp, for more than 35 years McBee has led Heritage South Community Credit Union, overseeing growth to $206 million from $1.6 million in September 1982.

Prior to the merger of the Duck River Chapter of the Tennessee Credit Union League, McBee served multiple times as the Duck River Chapter president. At the time of his hiring, EPCO Credit Union had one SEG, Empire Pencil Company.

“From these beginnings, the credit union has grown from a single SEG group credit union to a multi-SEG group credit union and now serves Bedford, Marshall and Rutherford Counties as a community chartered Credit Union,” the TCUL said. “Serving these communities, the credit union changed its name to Heritage South Community Credit Union.”
