Table For One: Hauptman Set To Chair Solo Board Meeting Again Next Week

ALEXANDRIA, Va.—The NCUA board will meet Thursday, July 24, the agency announced.

Kyle Hauptman speaking at the May NCUA board meeting.

“Our July board meeting will provide updates on the Central Liquidity Facility, which provides members a critical liquidity backstop during periods of financial uncertainty, and highlights from the recently published 2024 Ombudsman Annual Report,” said NCUA Chairman Kyle Hauptman. “Additionally, we’re working towards capturing information and new insights on the use of AI within the credit union space. As always our mission is to protect the safety and soundness of the credit union system, and we are best equipped to do this when we understand how credit unions interact with new technology and products.”

The  starting time is 10 a.m. ET. Items on the agenda include:

  • A briefing on artificial intelligence
  • A briefing from the NCUA Ombudsman
  • A briefing on the Central Liquidity Facility

The NCUA board last met in May, when Hauptman claimed his place in NCUA history by becoming the second chairman to hold a meeting conducted by a single board member. Dennis Dollar was the first, holding solo meetings in early 2002.

As CUToday.info reported, NCUA has determined that following the dismissal of its two Democratic board members—Todd Harper and Tanya Otsuka—a one-person board constitutes a quorum, allowing board meetings to proceed.

The agency cancelled its June meeting, and all other meetings for the remainder of the year are listed as “tentative” on NCUA’s website.
