LAKE JACKSON, Texas–This football season TDECU said it is partnering with University of Houston Athletics and Brothers in Arms to support of a scholarship program for minority student-athletes.
Through this partnership, TDECU said in conjunction with the “75 years of Houston Athletics” celebration, anyone who opens a checking account with direct deposit, refinances an auto loan, or signs up for a new TDECU credit card will receive a pair of 2021 Houston Cougar Football season tickets.
The offer includes tickets to the Texas Kick-Off game on Sept. 4 at NRG Stadium and five home games at TDECU Stadium.
The credit union said each time someone takes advantage of the offer it will donate to Brothers in Arms, a local non-profit organization formed by a trio of legendary Houston-area quarterbacks including Cougar alum and Heisman Trophy recipient Andre Ware. Brothers in Arms exists to award scholarships to graduating high school seniors who wish to continue their education at a college or university, TDECU said.
A ‘Better Place’
“We strive to make our communities a better place, and we are driven by helping people navigate their financial journeys,” said Josh Brian, VP of strategic partnerships at TDECU. “Not only are we confident that Houstonians will enjoy our suite of products and great service, but through our donation to Brothers in Arms, we will also be enriching the lives of young, deserving community members.”
Added Ware, “This partnership between TDECU, The University of Houston and Brothers in Arms is a win-win-win. And now, people will have the opportunity to experience TDECU’s amazing service and Cougar season tickets, while also making an impact in the lives of some very deserving student athletes. This is not only an all-around win, but it’s what makes us family.”
Special Commemoration
TDECU reported it and UH Athletics will be teaming up throughout the 2021 season to celebrate 75 Years of Houston Athletics. There will be a special commemoration for championship teams and historical moments during the first home opener vs. Grambling State University on Sept. 18 at TDECU Stadium.
The $4 billion TDECU has more than 350,000 members.
