Suspected CU Robber Arrested After Hitting Casino Jackpot

SAUK CITY, Wis.–A man suspected of robbing a credit union was busted after he hit the jackpot in a local casino.

According to police, Kevin C. Breon, 52, has been arrested and is suspected in the June 22 robbery of a branch of Heritage Credit Union.

According to police, they received a call from security staff at Ho-Chunk Gaming after Breon had just won a $1,400 jackpot at the Madison casino, but did not have a photo driver’s license, which was necessary to collect the prize, according to a criminal complaint, the Baraboo News Republic reported.

Breon allegedly told the casino he would get a copy of his license and return the next day to claim his winnings. The Baraboo News Republic reported that a Sauk Prairie Police Department detective working the case called the state Division of Motor Vehicles and requested that staff call police and delay Breon if he showed up seeking a duplicate license.

Authorities say Breon went to the DMV, and staff there stalled him until Madison police arrived and arrested him at gunpoint, the publication reported. The criminal complaint says Breon later confessed to robbing the Heritage Credit Union branch.
