Suspect Allegedly Shot By Member During Robbery Is Found, Arrested

SPOKANE, Wash.–A suspect who was allegedly shot while attempting to rob a credit union here was arrested at a nearby hotel.

Jeremy D. John, 44, was arrested at the Rodeway Inn about five miles from the branch of STCU where the robbery took place, according to the Spokesman-Review. John was taken to a local hospital where he’s being treated for injuries to his right arm and hip, according to a news release from the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office said charges will be filed against John after he is released from the hospital.

Authorities suspect he robbed the credit union on June 30, prompting a nearly weeklong manhunt. The robber fled on foot and wasn’t found despite the use of police dogs and a helicopter, the Spokesman-Review reported.

Security images from STCU’s surveillance camera showed a man wielding a gun and hopping over a counter to steal money. Witnesses told investigators a member inside the branch pulled out a handgun and fired at the robber.

As CUToday.info reported earlier, detectives reported finding blood at the scene, and one security image showed what appeared to be a large patch of blood on the robber’s sweatshirt.

Authorities haven’t released the name of the member who shot the robber, but did say he had a license to carry a concealed handgun and has retained a lawyer.
