VERMILLION, S.D.—Vermillion FCU here surprised some of its members with a bit of extra cheer when they made withdrawals at its ATM during the holidays.
It had some larger bills among smaller bills, providing a holiday bonus to some lucky members. The Credit Union Association of the Dakotas quoted Janet Mount, CEO of Vermillion FCU, as explaining she had gotten the idea from a member who had told her a story about their father receiving just such an ATM cash surprise from a credit union years earlier, and who still told the story every year at Christmas time.
