TAMPA, Fla.—Suncoast Credit Union here has joined with the National Federation of CDCUs to provide grants to as many as 10 Florida credit unions to be used to apply for Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) certification through the Federation’s Breakthrough Consulting Group.
"We are pleased to provide this effort that will help... communities that are un-served or underserved by traditional financial institutions,” said Suncoast CU CEO Tom Dorety in a statement.
Florida CUs with assets of less than $100 million are being encouraged to apply for a grant to become certified.
