TAMPA, Fla.– Suncoast Credit Union is making a $1 million donation to provide economic relief to those affected by COVID-19 in the communities it serves.
Suncoast said it is focusing on three primary areas of need that “correlate to the history and core values of the credit union. These key areas have been seriously affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and specific organizations names are attached.”
Those three areas include healthcare, hunger and education. The credit union said the donation is the largest in its 86-year history.
Organizations are being notified of the specific donations this week, and have been selected due to need, viability and sustainability and with consideration to the mission, vision and core values of Suncoast Credit Union, the CU said.
“While we are focused on supporting our members financially, we feel a moral obligation to support other basic needs during this very challenging time,” said President/CEO Kevin Johnson. “We admire and are inspired by other charitable organizations who are providing relief through private donations like ours. People are struggling through no fault of their own and because of the support of our board of directors, Suncoast is committed to doing what we can to address these serious needs.”
In 1990, Suncoast Credit Union founded the Suncoast Credit Union Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established to benefit sick children and their families and to support educational initiatives. Since its inception, the Foundation has raised and donated more than $29 million to help provide a better future for the children of the communities Suncoast serves.
Wescom Donates Gift Cards, Supports Food Banks
In Pasadena, Calif., Wescom Credit Union is donating $10,000 worth of GrubHub gift cards to Huntington Memorial Hospital workers who are on the front lines of COVID-19. In addition, Wescom is providing $45,000 in grant support to four nonprofit Southern California food banks to help them continue to provide food and meals to those in need.
“Supporting our local communities and residents has always been a strong part of our ethos,” said Melissa Pederson, SVP-administration. “We know Huntington Memorial staff are working tirelessly to care for sick patients and to keep our community safe during the COVID-19 pandemic, and we wanted to show our appreciation with a little #WescomKindness. The GrubHub gift cards give recipients the flexibility to use them to order a meal for themselves while on duty or for their family at home. They also help support local restaurants and the economy during this challenging time.”
Wescom said it also plans to support two other local Southern California hospitals next month with $10,000 worth of GrubHub gift cards each.
In addition to the hospital GrubHub gift card donations, Wescom said it will provide $45,000 in grant support to four nonprofit Southern California food banks: Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County, Feeding America Riverside San Bernardino Counties and Food Share of Ventura County.
Wheelhouse CU Adds PPP Loans
In San Diego, Wheelhouse Credit Union said it has begun offering Paycheck Protection Program loans through the SBA.
“We heard that many of our local small businesses weren’t able to participate in the first round of SBA relief funding through the program. We have been committed to making a difference in our San Diego community since 1934, and worked quickly to become approved to offer PPP loans to those in our community who desperately need the support,” said Wheelhouse President/CEO Lisa Paul-Hill.
Hyland Adds PPP Support
In Cleveland, Hyland said it has launched a new digital lending solution for financial institutions to support the SBA’s Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) application process and the associated documentation requirements. The digital lending solution is built on a low-code platform with configurable features, tools and components to quickly adapt and support new and changing SBA PPP Loan requirements, the company said.
Hyland said its SBA PPP Loan solution is comprised of three critical digital applications: Hyland’s loan document tracking solution, ShareBase – a cloud-based file sharing tool, along with integration with electronic signatures. “When combined, these technologies enable an efficient digital process to streamline initial application review, approval and signing,” Hyland said.
“Our newly launched SBA PPP Loan solution provides a contact-free way to quickly process applications, with a configurable and secure way to gather, access, route, review and approve the necessary documentation,” said Steve Comer, director of financial services and insurance sales.
Solution Capabilities
Hyland said essential solution capabilities include:
- Loan document tracking with digital workflows to manage the complete lifecycle of a loan and corresponding documents. Digital access to all loan-related information empowers loan officers with the right information to provide superior service and close loans faster.
- Cloud-based file sharing provides a simple and secure way to send, receive and collaborate on information remotely.
- Digital signatures support the necessary final step, completing the end-to-end digital lending solution by automating the signing process without the cumbersome tasks of printing, mailing and manually validating documents.
