MADISON, Wis.—Summit Credit Union here has again held what is believed to be the largest member annual meeting hosted in the U.S. by a credit union, with more than 2,200 people in attendance.
Known as Summer Fest, the annual meeting and related events were held at Mallards Stadium, also known as the Duck Pond at Warner Park on Sunday.
Summit CU noted that while many annual meetings showcase the previous year’s accomplishments, it also throws in a picnic, obstacle races for kids 1-12 (including its popular Diaper Dash), live music and other family activities.
“Summit Fest is all about thanking our members,” said Summit Credit Union president and CEO Kim Sponem. “Our members help make a collective impact on the lives of individuals, families and the larger community. This is our chance to celebrate them.”
Summit reported it had another successful year in 2017, holding its position as the top mortgage lender in Dane County, Wis., for the eighth consecutive year and ranking in the top 8% nationally in financial returns to members. SCU said it raised nearly $10,000 to help provide financial resources to developing communities worldwide through the Summit Visa Global Good Card, which CUToday.info reported on here.
In addition, Summit also used the annual member meeting to honor recipients of its scholarship winners, including Tia Parisi (Villanova University), Henry Jacobs (Edgewood High School) and Andrew Tietz (Waunakee High School), each of whom received a $1,500 Board of Directors scholarship.
