Striking Workers Offered Loan Assistance Program

ERIE, Penn.–Erie FCU is offering a loan assistance program to workers who are on strike against a local employer. The program is being offered to workers of Wabtec Corp., which manufactures brakes.

Erie FCU CEO Brian Waugaman told YourErie.com, "This is affecting close to 1,700 families in our community; Erie Federal Credit Union is part of that same community."

Erie FCU said it developed back in 2015 when Erie school teachers were impacted by the Pennsylvania impasse.  The program allows a 60-day extension on any existing loans that a member might have.  It also offers a low-interest rate short-term loan, YourErie.com reported.

Members of UE 506 and 618 are on strike.
