Strike Against Your Hometown FCU Ends

MAYFIELD, Ky. — United Steelworkers Local 9447’s strike against $28-million Your Hometown Federal Credit Union appears to have ended, WPSDlocal6.com reported.

A tentative agreement was reached Tuesday, following eight days of workers walking a picket line outside the credit union, the news outlet said.

Avery Darnall, the president of United Steelworkers Local 9447, said that negotiations had wrapped up once the trade union reached a tentative agreement with the CU, WPSDlocal6.com reported.

He said the local chapter of USW is satisfied with the agreement, and will disclose specific details once it is finalized in the upcoming days.

Representing numerous laborers throughout the region, USW advocated for revised contracts of four credit union employees to secure proper retirement benefits, WPSDlocal6.com reported.

Darnall confirmed the employees will retain their pensions upon desired retirement, which was the primary concern that caused the strike, WPSDlocal6.com said.

USW also claims that YHFCU deployed unfair labor board practices against its members to halt negotiations, WPSDlocal6.com said.
