EAST LANSING, Mich. — MSU Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU) has announced plans for what it calls a “major expansion” with plans to open five branches in Chicago in 2024.
The new branches will be located in the Lakeview, Lincoln Park, Wicker Park, Gold Coast, and Old Town neighborhoods.
In addition to serving its current membership, there are more than 10,000 Michigan State University students and alumni living in the Chicago area, according to the credit union.
‘Important Initiative’
“Expansion into the Chicago market is an important initiative we have been preparing for in order to better serve our members, MSU alumni, and their families in the area,” said April Clobes, president/CEO of MSUFCU. “We are eager to provide in-person support and expanded access to our comprehensive suite of financial products. These new branches serve as a tangible realization of our Credit Union’s mission, as we embrace the opportunity to engage with the Chicagoland community, empowering them to achieve financial security, pursue their goals, and ultimately their dreams.”
Community Space to Be Available
In addition, MSUFCU said the five new branch locations will also create new employment opportunities for local residents, “contributing to the overall economic growth of the region.”
MSUFCU said it also plans to have community spaces available at the new branches to host events, provide financial education opportunities, and “collaborate with local community partners.”
The $7.4-billion credit union has more than 340,000 members.
