FAIRHAVEN, Mass.–Southern Mass Credit Union has named Carmen F. Sylvester as its new president/CEO.
Sylvester succeeds Dan Waltz, who retired in May. The $211-million CU has approximately 15,000 members.
Sylvester was previously VP of finance at Centreville Bank in West Warwick, R.I., and has more than 25 years in financial services, including senior management positions for the Advanced Engineering Group, P.C. in East Providence, R.I.; People's Credit Union in Middletown, R.I., and Fleet National Bank in Providence, R.I.
"We are delighted to welcome Ms. Sylvester to the Southern Mass Credit Union," said SMCU Board Chairman David S. Darmofal in a statement. "After an extensive search, we have found the right person to lead us into the future and continue our proud tradition of providing exceptional service to our members and our community."
