Southern California CUs Raise Nearly $200K For Children’s Hospital

ONTARIO, Calif.–Fourteen Southern California credit unions and affiliates helped to raise more than $194,000 for Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC Children’s) during the CHOC Walk in the Park here.

This was the fourth year credit unions in Orange County came together to walk and fundraise for CHOC as the “Credit Unions 4 CHOC Team.” This year, more than 1,200 walkers from the various credit unions and affiliate organizations took part, with Ontario-based CU Direct and Rancho Cucamonga-based CO-OP Financial Services as the team sponsors that provided the red team superhero themed t-shirts.

The teams together raised more than $194,000, with an additional $10,000 coming from CO-OP Financial Services and its Miracle Match program. The top five fundraising teams were SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union (Santa Ana), which raised more than $60,000; Orange County’s Credit Union (Santa Ana), which raised more than $40,000; Credit Union of Southern California (Anaheim Hills) and Financial Partners Credit Union (Downey), which raised more than $20,000 each; followed by Eagle Community Credit Union (Lake Forest), which raised more than $12,000 as individual teams.  

This year’s participating credit unions and organizations were: Autoland (Chatsworth), American First Credit Union (La Habra), Camino Federal Credit Union (Montebello), CU Direct, Credit Union of Southern California, CUNA Mutual (Madison, Wis.), Downey Federal Credit Union, Eagle Community Credit Union, Financial Partners Credit Union, Kinecta Federal Credit Union (Manhattan Beach), NuVision Federal Credit Union (Huntington Beach), Orange County’s Credit Union, SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union, Wescom Credit Union (Pasadena), and Xpress Data, Inc. (San Diego).
