Solarity CU Offers Assistance After Medical Center Abruptly Closes

YAKIMA, Wash.–Solarity Credit Union said it has joined with other businesses here to help employees of Astria Regional Medical Center, which abruptly closed and put hundreds out of work.

The credit union has created a relief program meant to provide financial assistance to those affected by job losses.

“Our primary concern is for affected employees and their families – Solarity members and non-members alike,” said SCU President and CEO Mina Worthington in a statement. “Solarity has a long tradition of strong relationships with hospital employees, and we deeply appreciate all they do for our community.”

Solarity is offering a short-term loan that includes a 90-day delayed first payment, a 5% interest rate (5.001% APR), and a 36-month repayment period, with loan amounts that can range from $1,000 to $5,000.

“These loans are intended to provide temporary support and create some breathing room for affected employees as they work to re-establish themselves,” Worthington said. “The employees of Astria Regional Medical Center were given little opportunity to plan or prepare for the hospital’s sudden closure, and Solarity is honored to be able to help support them through this unexpected transition.”
