NEW YORK–Who are the people who volunteer to keep Wikipedia updated and corrected?

According to the Twitter account named @bankedits, its employees at some of the nation’s largest banks.

The Twitter account tweets whenever changes to Wikipedia articles are made from certain IP addresses belonging to major banks, the Wall Street Journal reported. “The format is based on a popular defunct account that did the same for edits made from the U.S. Capitol,” the Journal added.

Edits are anonymous, but the Twitter account reported someone at Deutsche Bank wanted to tweak the Wikipedia entry for social class in the United Kingdom on April 11, while a BNP Paribas employee amended the page on “Wolfenstein: The New Order,” a gun-heavy videogame, on April 23.

“Nor can we be sure whether the editor from Citigroup who corrected a misspelling of actress Amanda Seyfried’s name in an article on the 2004 teen classic film ‘Mean Girls’ on Monday works in compliance, leverage finance or sales,” the Journal added.
