Smaller Than $100M in Assets? Free ‘Impossible’ Opportunity is Being Offered

GREENVILLE, S.C.–A competition has been launched where one credit union with less than $100 million will be selected for a free “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get one-on-one strategic, executive, marketing and public relations advice and services.”

The competition, called “Credit Union Impossible,” is designed to help a smaller credit union grow, according to the promotion’s backers.

“The community still has underserved and underbanked. Payday lenders prey on those that do not know better, but still the credit union loses members or struggles to grow assets,” said Bo McDonald, CEO of Your Marketing Co. “With small credit unions going away, rural communities and underserved markets are in jeopardy of losing their financial advocates.”

According to McDonald, each member of the team involved comes with a different skill to help a small credit union act like a larger credit union.

The Partners

Among those involved:

  • Leverage Point: “Leverage Point helps credit unions think strategically about their communications and we want to help small credit unions tell their stories to their communities to make an impact,” said Dan Mayfield, public affairs director at Leverage Point Inc., a lobbying and public affairs firm Albuquerque, N.M.
  • uncomm Marketing.  “A small credit union can and should have an online presence that is compelling, convenient, and speaks to their members’ lifestyle. At uncomm Marketing Partners, we develop websites that allow organizations of all sizes to look and function their absolute best on any device,” said Marne Franklin, CEO of uncomm.

“One credit union under $100 million in assets will be chosen for all industry partners involved in this project to receive services free of charge,” the organizations. “A holistic plan will be produced specifically for the chosen credit union and each partner will work together to create a strategic plan and individually as needed to fulfill the project scope.
