Small Biz Owners Express New Concerns Over Spread of Delta Variant

BOSTON–A newly released survey of 5,164 small business owners has found significant concern over the Delta variant of the coronavirus.

According to Alignable's August Recovery Poll, 76% of small businesses fear Delta variant surges will hurt their recovery, stalling or even reversing the progress some have made over the past few months.

Other Findings:

  • 47% of all SMBs say government re-closures due to Delta variant surges are their No. 1 concern right now -- above inflation, labor shortages, and other recovery hurdles.
  • 83% of minority business owners worry that the Delta variant will slow their recovery and/or cause shutdowns (44% are highly concerned)
  • 88% of restaurant owners are concerned about the Delta variant damaging their already-fragile businesses, 87% of travel pros, 86% of  event planners, 81% of entertainers, and 77% of retailers have the same fear.
