EDMOND, Okla.–It isn’t just credit unions offering consumers assistance during the coronavirus pandemic. Citizens Bank here has introduced a CARES Overdraft Program in order to provide faster access to expected government relief checks.
The name of the program is a reference to the recently passed CARES Act, which will send most individuals checks for $1,200 ($2,400 for married couples) plus $500 per child.
Saying she believes many of her customers already qualify for overdraft, which could provide about two-thirds of their expected stimulus checks, Jill Castilla, CEO of Citizens Bank, said it has created an easy application for its overdraft program that could make funds available to customers within 24 hours of qualifying.
“We're committed to providing a healthy banking experience for our customers and team members at Citizens,” the bank says on its website.
