CHARLOTTE, N.C.–Skyla Credit Union has cut the ribbon on its newly upgraded headquarters. The $1.59-billion Sklya CU now fills more than 50,000 square feet of the Station at LoSo, filling the top three floors of the Station 3 building.
It also has a 3,000-square-foot branch on the street level that faces a light rail station, the Charlotte Business Journal reported. The building project was developed by Beacon Partners.
According to the Business Journal, renovating a space in lower South End for Skyla's new headquarters wasn't the initial plan, as it was seeking to build a new office in the city’s Elizabeth neighborhood, but timing and the need to combine various operations made the new facility a better option.
"We have been, over the past four years, disjointed through COVID, disjointed through accelerated growth," Skyla President and CEO Eric Gelly told the Business Journal. "We had literally band-aid office space that we were putting employees in. And the concept of having in-person meetings and being close to teammates is very powerful for us."
The Building’s Features
Gelly told the CBJ the new building’s features include multiple private terraces, conference and fitness amenities, private offices and a state-of-the-art training facility for new and transitioning employees.
In addition to North Carolina, Skyla CU also has offices in Virginia and California.
