Service CU Expands FOM To Include All Military Veterans

PORTSMOUTH, N.H.–Service Credit Union here reported it has been approved to add all military veterans and Department of Defense civilian employees—regardless of their length of government service—and their families to its field of membership.

Previously, retired veterans with 20 or more years of service, qualified for membership.

“This is a significant milestone for Service Credit Union,” said Gordon Simmons, president/CEO of Service Credit Union, in a statement. “This expansion will pave the way for the millions of veterans to take advantage of our Veterans Program which offers price benefits on deposits and loans. With our state-of-the-art technology, these members can bank anytime, anywhere.”

According to Service CU, members of its Veterans Program receive price benefits on deposits and loans. With the Service Credit Union Veterans Affinity Visa Credit Card, 2% of any credit card interest paid by anyone in the Veterans Program will be donated to select Veterans organizations.

To meet the needs of its expanded membership, Service Credit Union said it has already made significant investments in new technology including enhanced online banking and bill pay, mobile apps, remote check deposit, text messaging, and FinanceWorks, online personal finance management tool.

The $2.6-billion Service CU has more than 210,000 members.
