Senate Banking Committee Set To Vote On NCUA Board Nominations

Rodney Hood testifying before Senate.

WASHINGTON—The Senate Banking Committee on Tuesday will vote to advance the nominations of Rodney Hood and Todd Harper to the NCUA board, and Dr. Mark Calabria to lead the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA).

The committee's executive session to vote on these nominations, as well as others for the Treasury and Export-Import Bank, will take place before a hearing on the Federal Reserve's semi-annual report to Congress. The hearing is set to begin at 10 a.m. ET Tuesday,

Todd Harper testifying before Senate.

NAFCU noted.

As CUToday.info reported here, Hood and testified before the committee last week. During the hearing, both Hood and Harper said they would work to ensure the safety and soundness of the credit union industry if confirmed to serve on the NCUA board. They also discussed the importance of increasing access to affordable financial services in rural communities and for unbanked and underbanked communities.

Hood and Harper were largely overshadowed at the hearing by at times contentious questions for Calabria, as CUToday.info reported here.

If approved by the Senate Banking Committee, the nominations will advance to the full Senate for confirmation.
