BALTIMORE–Securityplus FCU said it plans to use a $3,000 grant from the Credit Union Foundation of MD|DC to partially fund a pilot program to serve the Hispanic population living in and near Baltimore.
The credit union said the grant will be used toward the program development phase, with Securityplus
partnering with Coopera to expand their services to the Hispanic community. Coopera is a CUSO of the Iowa Credit Union League.
“This grant will help ensure that our program starts on the right path, as we initiate our plans to serve the growing Hispanic community and provide access to affordable and reputable financial services” said Brett Noll, CEO of the $400-million Securityplus FCU.
Pioneered Several Years Ago
Added CU Foundation MD|DC Chair Ron Shockle, “Our foundation is pleased to partner with Securityplus to improve banking access for residents of Baltimore City within Hispanic communities. This is an area of interest closely related to an effort we pioneered several years ago with our bilingual teller training program and represents an expansion of our mission of improving lives in the communities our local credit unions serve.”
