PITTSFIELD, Maine–– Sebasticook Valley FCU has introduced a Christmas loan special, in addition to a Holiday Cash Calendar Sweepstakes benefiting Maine Credit Unions Campaign for Ending Hunger.
According to the $159.6-million credit union, the Christmas loan special offers rates as low as 5.25% APR (annual percentage rate), with amounts to $3,000 and terms to 12 months. SVFCU noted the rate is less than half the current average personal loan interest rate of 11.53%, according to Bankrate.com data.
Meanwhile, Sebasticook Valley’s Holiday Cash Calendar Sweepstakes, with proceeds from tickets benefiting the Campaign for Ending Hunger, total $3,000 and will run throughout the entirety of December. Tickets are $10 or three for $25, and members can enter to win daily cash amounts between $20 to $500. The daily winner’s name will be posted on the Sebasticook Valley FCU Facebook page and will also be notified by phone.
Families Feeling ‘Financial Strain’
“As the holiday season approaches, we recognize the financial strain facing many Maine families,” Sebasticook Valley FCU President Jim Lemieux said in a statement. “Our hope is that these specials lighten the burden on members – whether through a lower APR loan, or a fun way to receive extra cash in their pockets through the sweepstakes. At the same time, we want to give back to the greater community, and the sweepstakes are one avenue toward that, allowing us to continue to support the Maine Credit Unions Campaign for Ending Hunger.”
SVFCU has more than 12,000 members.
