MARYSVILLE, Mich.—Armed robbers wearing safety vests and hard hats held up an office of the $1.7-billion Genisys CU here.
Three people are in custody following the event, which included a police chase that reached up to 100 miles per hour on Interstate 94.
Police received a call about 9 a.m. Friday of suspicious men wearing safety vests and hard hats in the area around Genisys Credit Union, 207 Huron Blvd.
When police visited the credit union, workers at the CU said they had not seen men matching that description. Officers began to check other financial institutions in the area.
About 9:45 a.m., Genisys Credit Union workers hit an alarm when they saw two men dressed in safety vests and hard hats near the building.
The two men allegedly entered the CU, brandished handguns, and ordered those inside onto the floor. The crooks fled in a dark-colored van with an undisclosed amount of cash.
No one was injured.
Police eventually apprehended three suspects, following a high-speed chase. Authorities, while looking for the mini-van, spotted an SUV on the road used in a bank robbery two weeks earlier. That chase led to the eventual apprehension of three suspects, including locating the minivan.
Names, ages and hometowns of the suspects were not available.
