EUGENE, Ore.–SELCO Credit Union here has filed suit against Noodles & Co. for a data security breach.
As CUToday.info reported here, the Broomfield, Colo.-based Noodles & Co. has acknowledged a breach affecting its 322 restaurants. Denver Community CU had earlier said it was already in the process of replacing its members’ cards.
SELCO is seeking class action status for the lawsuit for all financial institutions whose customers/members made purchases at one of the restaurants since Jan. 1. The suit was filed with the U.S. District Court of Colorado.
The credit union is alleging in the lawsuit that Noodles & Co. failed to “employ reasonable measures to secure its customers’ personal and financial information.” The result has been costs to financial institutions to replace cards, stop payments, block transactions, and refund fraudulent charges among other costs, according to the court filing.
Noodles & Co. said the breach lasted from Jan. 31 until June 2, 2016.
